H1N1

Today my stomach was in knots...

Why? Well, today I was debating back and forth in my head & heart. You see, Piccowaxen Middle School was giving out the H1N1 vaccine today & up until this point, I was almost certain I was going to get it for Carter. Up until today, I wasn't that nervous about it. I had heard the stories and watched the news, but for the most part I felt pretty confident about it all. Until Today, that is. Now, I dont want to mislead you...Carter did get the shot today.

After weeks of being "on the fence" about it, we decided to go for it. However, my stomach is still in knots!! I guess it's normal...it's what mom's do best-WORRY! But, I have to put all of my fears & worries in God's hands, I have to! In the end, He is the one who decides not us. I have to trust Him and know that everything will be okay, God willing. So, my point in all this? Just to vent maybe...even I'm not really sure. I just know that I want to protect my baby from any and all harm. If this is the way to do it, then so be it. Now, I am not passing judgement on anyone who decides not to get the vaccine. That is totally up to them!! Carter goes to daycare so he is more likey to come in contact with this horrible flu, that is why I ultimatley decided to get him vaccinated. If I was a stay at home mom, who knows...maybe not. Only time will tell what the future holds & hopefully he stays protected! We will see, I will keep everyone posted.

It is official though...Carter got his shot today & yes he screamed, poor baby!!! But it was quick, he did get over it eventually, played, & ate a good dinner! He is sleeping now :) He did have a 100.3 temperature, but I gave him some Tylenol as suggested by the nurse. So far, there have been no other side effects! I am going to check on him through-out the the night to make sure he is okay. Please keep him in your prayers tonight... that he doesn't get any bad side effects!! No pictures tonight because I am tired! That's motherhood for ya I guess, but even with all the stress, worrying, & lack of sleep...I wouldn't trade it for the world : )

Post-surgery photo’s

I think that’s what it’s called anyway?! LOL ‘Post’ is after surgery & ‘Pre’ is before!!? Please let me know if I am wrong on this- I should know this seeing as I had a  C-section baby ; ) Anyway, this post is not going to be a bunch of writing- I covered that in the last one! So, with that being said, Here are some pictures from last night..

Surgery day

Today was the day...surgery day! Even though he was only given "laughing gas" and he was only asleep for 10 minutes (yes it was that fast!) It was still considered surgery! Carter even had to wear a little hospital gown and socks! I was very nervous about this whole thing, but honestly it wasn't bad at all! God heard my prayers Sunday night because Carter slept ALL night long & woke up in a happy mood! He sat content in his car seat the whole ride up to the hospital-which took about an hour to get to & he didn't cry at all for food or milk!!
When we got in the waiting room, he played so good & sat so patiently with us! He was such an angel this morning...Thank God for that. I love Calvert Hospital too, the people are so nice there. We waited in the "playroom" until it was time for his surgery & then I gave him a kiss goodbye (which was tough!) but I did not cry-GO ME!! We decided that Daddy should be the one to take him back when they put him to sleep. I was going back and forth with the idea of me being the one to do it, but ultimately we thought it best for CJ to do it. He said it was hard to watch, but very glad he did it and not me!! I agree lol.....I probably would have been a mess!! After he fell asleep, CJ came back out into the waiting room and we maybe waited 12 minutes and it was over!! Then we both got to go back to the recovery room and see our baby. He was NOT happy when he woke up-if that's what you want to call it! I say that because he wasn't really 'awake'. His eyes were still closed, but he was crying and throwing his head back, his arms back, & just plain mad!! They told me that most kids wake up that way and knowing Carter, I kinda expected it-haha! We comforted him and rocked him until he fell back asleep and when he did, he was out like a light!! We were able to get him dressed and put him in the car seat without ever waking him up! He slept until about half way home & woke up cheerful and all smiles :)
I stayed home from work to be with him and we just relaxed and played all day! It was so nice to be able to have that 1 on 1 time with him. He has to take ear drops 3 times a day for the next five days & go back to see Dr. Daidone in 2 weeks (11/24/09) for a check up! Hopefully these tubes help as much as they say they will. I am just relieved its all over and now we can look forward to less 'sick days' ahead :)
*Ps. I dont have any pictures because I am tired tonight and I'm going to bed as soon as I'm done typing this. Tomorrow I will have some pictures for sure though!!

2009 Kidney Walk

Today was the Kidney Walk in Richmond VA & Team Ryder was awesome!! Thank you to Alan & Brandy for inviting us to be a part of the ‘Team’ ;) We had so much fun!! It feels good knowing your contributing to a good cause! We decided to do the 3 mile walk & it couldn’t have been a more beautiful day to be outside! It was so nice out-almost 80 degrees which is unheard of for November. But, hey..I’m not complaining one bit! Carter did really well in his stroller-I was surprised because I really thought he would want “out” the whole time! However, he did throw his binki out of the stroller at some point during the walk, so lets just say the ride home was a little less than pleasant!! Tara & Blake were soo very kind as to let us have one of Kaiden’s binki’s since he never uses them and they have the same kind we use. Carter will not use any other kind but the kind from the hospital! I know, I know..he is very particular!! CJ & I were just going to say “that’s it! no more binki!” but, tomorrow Carter is getting his tubes in and I know he is going to want it!! That and his blanket are his favorite things. By the way, wish us luck tomorrow! I’m a little nervous!! okay, enough chit chat…haha Here are the pictures:
