Callie’s EEG

Soon after big brother got his Tonsils out, it was Callie's turn to go to the hospital. On March 20th we went to her EEG appointment at Children's, finally! As much as I had been stressing about this appointment, I had also been anxious for the day to come and get it over with, so we could get the answers we were hoping for! Well my prayers were answered because I am more than happy to report that her test came back 100% NORMAL :) Thank God is all I can say...HE is awesome!

Now that I've covered the most important part of this post, let's get onto the details of the appointment. Callie's appointment was scheduled for 10AM Tuesday March 20th. We got up early and left in plenty of time to get there, but of course, we got lost...AGAIN! Did I mention how much I hate DC traffic and just DC in general?! Luckily, we made it just in time and were taken right back to the testing room. The nice lady there put about 30 probes on Callie's head and then wrapped it with a cloth so that she couldn't pull them off. I have to say, she was such a trooper for the whole test. She just sat playing with her toys and once she got sleepy, I laid her down on the table with her blanket and she was out like a light. It was actually good that she fell asleep too because they wanted to get activity for Awake and Asleep, so they got it all just like they needed. The test lasted about 45 minutes and then we were free to leave. DC on the way home was much simpler... it always happens like that with us, Lol.

Anyway, it is such a huge relief to know that she is okay and that this is all behind us now. It looks like these episodes, as scary as they may be, are “Breath holding spells”, as they call them and nothing serious.  Thanks again to everyone who kept her in your prayers and sorry it took so long to update! Next post to come... A visit to the museum! :)

Double-Take!

That’s what I did when I first looked at this picture. Now is it just me or do Carter and Callie look just like these two handsome boys below??

Of course, Carter has darker hair then CJ and Callie has blonde, unlike Jimmy. But, to me, Carter looks just like CJ in the face in this picture and I see ALOT of Callie in Jimmy. I guess I don’t get any credit when it comes to looks with these kids ;)

Goodbye Tonsil’s!

Carter's Tonsillectomy was a success! Let me get right to the update!

The night before surgery we let him stay up later than usual and eat whatever he wanted. He played outside with Daddy and ate chocolate and chips and all that good stuff for dinner :)

That morning, as much as we read to him about the hospital and talked to him about surgery, he was still a little nervous about it. Luckily, he was given a "euphoric/amnesia drug about 30 minutes before surgery to relax him and boy did it do the trick. This kid was loopy as can be! He was acting like a person that's had one too many drinks...Lol, but it helped him when it came time to be put to sleep because instead of screaming and being terrified, he was happy and cooperated completely and doesn't even remember it!

Here he is before leaving for the hospital that morning! Such a trooper ;)

Here he is after the Amazing/Fantastic/Wonderful “Drunk don’t remember a thing” meds kicked in! He was a mess, Ha!

After surgery, of course, he was angry and scared when he woke up! Over all though, he did really well and we came home that day and he soup and popsicles like a champ! The next day was a bit more difficult. It was by far the worst day because he would not drink, take his meds, or even swallow his own spit. We took him to get an IV at St. Marys Hospital because we could see how much pain he was in and we were worried about him dehydrating. Thankfully, the visit helped and he was back to his normal self the next day. Every day after that just got better and he recovered fairly quickly...eating chicken nuggets and all by day 6!

Here he is on our way home…. surprisingly happy and talkative after getting over the whole “I’m in a hospital and I’m MAD!” episode after first waking up!

When we took him for his 10 day post op, she was very pleased with his healing and gave him the okay to eat anything he could tolerate, which made him very happy :)

As for the ears, she removed the tubes that were almost out anyway... and his ears are healing slowly but surely. He still complains of ear pain now and then since the surgery, but she started back on the drops for a week and they seem to be helping!

His healing, in pictures….

Day 1

Day 2..all the meds!

Day 3…MUCH better after our visit on Day 2 to St. Mary’s Hospital to get an IV. The the after surgery was by far the worst day! He couldnt even swallow his own spit. We made the call to take him to get fluids and I am so glad we did. It helped ALOT. They really should keep kids overnight after a Tonsillectomy, but that’s a rant I don’t want to get into right now, ha!

Day 8! ALL BETTER!springbroandsis2012

I skipped a few pictures in between as you can see.

It was a hectic week. Glad its over with :)

He was such a strong, brave boy through it all and we are so proud of him! It's just amazing how resilient kids are :) I Thank God that we didn't have any major complications and I am so glad it is over with now. Here's looking to a healthy, happy summer..God Willing!

7 Months Old!

It's that time again, another monthly update. Let's see what our girl is up to at 7 months :)

A couple days after her first tooth broke through, the second bottom one did as well! Now Missy has two little teeth and they look so adorable! She is putting her new teeth to use too, eating toast and pancake... noodles and peaches. She loves table food and we have started to slowly let her try things! I got her some puffs the other day and she tried one. I broke it in half first, but she did well with it! She loves cereal mixed with fruit, like baby banana's or apple sauce/pears! She loves her veggies for the most part and still isn't a huge fan of meats! I gave her a sippy cup the other night and let her try drinking juice from it. She seems confused at first, but once she got the hang of it, she loved it!

She just got her ears pierced and did really well. I felt so bad because she cried so hard, but once she calmed down, she was fine and she looks so pretty with her earrings!! Here are the pictures from Tuesday at Dr. Miller’s office. Amanda took before and after pictures for me… 2012_03_06_67012012_03_06_67022012_03_06_67032012_03_06_67102012_03_06_67072012_03_06_6708

If you look close in this one, you can see her teeth!!!!! ;)

I felt so horrible making her go through the pain of piercing her ears…. but hopefully she will thank me later! I mean, she got her DTap last Friday and didn't even cry or tear up! I was so nervous about the shot, but she was such a brave girl and she didn't even get a reaction from it. The man at the doctor’s office who pierced her ears said it doesn’t hurt, but I beg to differ. How can it not? Oh well, its done now and she looks super cute with them in!

As for shots, we don't have to go back for more until her 1 year, Thank God! That’s a nice little break. When I look at the months on the calendar…It's hard to believe she will be 1 so soon though!!

As far as development goes she is sitting up with ease and has great balance. She will even reach for toys and go from sitting up to her belly or knees. Crawling can't be too far away now.. we'll see :)

Like I said, I gave her puffs the other night and pieces of pancake... I broke them into tiny pieces and put them on her highchair table. She started reaching and trying to use the 'pincer' grasp to get the food!!!! It took me back to Carter's baby days when I saw her doing that!

She is still saying Dada all the time and sometimes you will hear her coo and say Maaaa'! Mostly just babbles though!

Her laugh is contagious, we all love to make her giggle and the one that really gets her going is her big brother! Now, she's even started to 'bounce' when something exciting happens and when you are holding her in the standing position, she will bounce too!

I am still having a hard time getting her to sleep longer than 3 hours at a time. She has had some good nights recently where she went about 4 hour stretch’s…. those were nice and hopefully she can keep it up!

I have some more pictures of her and her teeth to post… more to come soon!

Weekday mornings!

Last week (2/28) was Pajama Day for Carter’s class. And out of all the one’s he’s got, he decided to wear his Batman PJ’s to school…

2012_02_28_6681

I have never seen this kid so excited to go to school! He LOVES his Pajama’s and if he could, he would wear them all day everyday! Me too buddy, me too, Lol. Anyway, he had a blast with it and I’m glad he gets to do these kinds of fun things at such a young age :)

Callie just goes with the flow in the mornings!
