Halloween 2010

This year, with Carter being sick and all, we had our own candy hunt at home instead of going out!

Grammy hid some chocolates around the living room and I helped Carter search for them! I have to admit, we were all disappointed that we couldn’t go to the Trunk or Treat, but we knew it was for the best to stay home. Carter’s fever did finally break today but, I didn’t know if it was gone for good, so to be safe, we stayed home to wait and see.

   

After our candy hunt, we went out to the corn field and to see the pumpkins :)

 It was all dry and eatin’ up from the deer, but it was still pretty!

 And right before we went back inside, we saw some Raccoon tracks! Carter thought they were so cool ;) He is such a little nature boy!

Halloween Eve

I can’t believe its already the end of October, gosh time is FLYING by! Before we know it, it will be Christmas :)

Although I can’t get Carter to eat much, he is drinking alot…which is good! The medicine they put him on causes him to have diarrhea so the more fluids, the better! He has been a pain in the butt these last few days about nap time, so most nights he goes to bed very early! And lastly, he is still running a fever, but we are keeping it under control with Advil and Tylenol. Honestly though, he is still very happy and playful most of the time. He still has his moments, like every kid, but for being sick…he handles it very well!

Once I saw the through the window how pretty the sunset was, I had to get a picture!

I couldn’t believe how purple and orange the sky looked, just like Halloween…

Earlier in the day, we rented some movies for Carter and one for us :) SO, we are going to enjoy our movie night and get some much needed rest!

Sunday Fun-day!

I never posted this and I intended to last week, but then with Carter getting sick, it delayed me a little. Better late than never though :)

These pictures are from last Sunday. My mom and I took the kids to the park to play and eat pizza!! The kids had a great time and so did we, its always fun watching them play and also playing your self! I swear I act like a kid every time we go to the playground because I’m right there with him climbing, sliding, etc. My mom even slid down the slide, Carter got a kick out of it ;) Anyway, onto the pictures of our fun day at the park..

I also wanted to update on how Carter’s feeling. He is still running a fever and you can still hear it in his voice that his throat is sore, but he’s playful and drinking lots of fluids. Today is 48 hours on the antibiotic so I’m hoping the fever breaks tonight. If he is still running a fever by Monday, I will be calling the pediatricians office, but for now we are just keeping our fingers crossed that I don't have to do that!

Strep Throat

This morning when Dr. Mena came back and told me that Carter’s Strep Test was positive, I was a little shocked. But, now that we know what it is and caught it so early, we can begin the med’s and hopefully he will feel better for Halloween!

  For now, we’ll be hanging out inside, building forts and watching movies till Carter is all better!

Home, Sick

Unfortunately, that’s where I am this morning, at home with a feverish child :(

Last night around 2am, I woke up to Carter calling my name. When I went in to check on him, he said “I wanna sleep in mommy’s bed!” and at first I said no and tried to cover him back up. But, when I went to kiss him and walk out, I felt how hot he was and when I took his temperature, it read 104.2!! I took him to my bed, gave him some Advil and luckily, the fever went down to normal range. This morning he still has a fever, but no other symptoms.

I am going to call the doctor when they open and run this by them. They’ll probably tell me to come in, so I should have an update later this afternoon. I am just hoping and praying he doesn’t have what I had last week!

Potty training update & bath time fun

There have been some major improvements in the potty training area lately! For the past 2 weeks, Carter has been peeing in the potty every night before his bath and throughout the day once he gets home, here and there. I’m pretty sure he is going pretty regularly at daycare now too, hence why he is doing so well at home.  At first I think I tried to push it on him before he was completely ready, but now, he comes to me and say’s “Mommy, I gonna pee in da potty!!”. I am SO proud of my boy!

I’ve heard alot of stories from other parents about how they can’t get there child to blow they’re nose or how their kids hate water on they’re face. I was never that kid that hated either of those two things. In fact, blowing my nose as a kid was a must for me when I was stuffed up, I hated the feeling of all that gunk up there. Carter is the same way, he will blow his nose for me most times when I ask with out a hassle. However, he has never liked when I rinse his hair in the bath. Until yesterday….

I’m glad he finally got over hating water on his face because it made getting out of the tub a work-out!

Oh and I almost forgot… I know I said before that we’ve been having a few struggles each night at bed time and how I was worried about it. Well, tonight he wanted me to rub his back to fall asleep. I am hoping for a good nights rest and hopefully a cheerful morning. Usually he wakes up really grouchy in the mornings!!!
