It’s Been Weeks!

Shame on me for letting it go this long! But, with Callie having colic (yes, unfortunately she likes to cry just like big brother did) its hard to find the time! And whatever quiet time I do get, I usually spend it cleaning..running errands..or just trying to get some “me time”.

Anyway, I have a lot to update on, so here it goes….

These last few weeks have been pretty crazy around here. First, We had to deal with an earth quake! I still can’t believe it happened, but no damage was done. next came a hurricane-I officially hate the name Irene now! And finally, a flash flood! For a while there, it was like we couldn't catch a break…

during the hurricane, Brandy, Ryder, and Maisy decided to sleep over our house :) it was our first sleep over ever and even though we lost power… they made the time lots more fun!!

This weekend marked the one where this quiet little princess decided she wanted to show us just how loud she can get! I guess God thinks I am tough enough to handle colicky babies! The next few weeks were hard…trying to get used to the screaming again after a 3 year break wasn’t and still isn’t easy, but were making it through one day at a time!

There is one amazing thing that has happened in the last two weeks that's made the crying 10 times more bearable though…my baby girl is smiling at us :)  I don't have a picture of it yet because it usually disappears just as quickly as it comes, but I am working on it! She is also cooing up a storm! Her voice is so sweet and soft, video coming soon, promise!

Big brother is also being wonderful with his sis! He helps me bathe her, feed her, gets me diapers on call, and even helps me change the poopy diapers! Callie doesn’t realize how lucky she is yet ;)

I am typing this with one hand because little miss just wants me to hold her, that's why i am cutting this long update short. Here are some pictures from the last few weeks…more to come soon!

3 & 1/2 weeks old :)

She likes white noise sounds, the fan on the microwave, and the vacuum…. just like big brother, these sounds help calm her crying!

The Fair, 2011!

Nothing screams fall like the fair and this year Carter was super excited to go! He couldn’t wait do ride the rides, see the animals, and get some cotton candy:)

We were planning on taking Callie and showing her off ( you run into everyone at the fair, its like a high school reunion!) But, that morning the weather was pretty cloudy and chilly, so we decided to have some one-on-one with our boy and go just us three! This year was probably the first and last time we would be able to do that…I know next year little miss will definitely want to tag along!

We had a really good time together. And even though Carter only got on two rides, we had fun walking around and eating the good food! Plus, we met up with his buddy Kaiden, so he was happy!

The first ride we got on was the super huge slide! Carter was all excited to try this one out, but as we got closer to the top, I could tell he was a little scared. I don't think he would have done it if he would have known how fast he was going to go down…but I am so glad we did it together!

Next year I’m sure we will be getting on more rides…and little sister will be watching from her stroller :)

I still can’t believe its already fall and almost time for me to go back to work! This time off has flown by, but I feel so blessed that I could spend 12 weeks at home with my girl :)

Our New Normal

Since Callie’s was born, we’ve been busy trying to get used to our new life as a bigger family! So far, its been pretty good. It’s definitely challenging at times, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything :)

CJ spent most of last week at home with us girls, but has returned to work this week. We miss him, but its nice to have alone time with my girl too! This week is the first since we’ve been home from the hospital, that we aren’t booked up with doctor’s appointments too, which is nice! Yesterday I had my two week check up with Dr. Ali, which went fine. And, I actually ran Callie over to the pediatrician while I was close by to have them check out her belly button. It just looked a little crusty to me and I wanted to get some peace of mind about it. They looked at it and said it’s healing just fine, so I was relieved. She also got weighed while we were there and is up to 7lbs 3 oz! Our girl is growing nicely :) So, I’m a happy momma! Also yesterday, the Indian Head Base and Daycare was without power until around 8:30am. So, Denise brought Carter to her work until power was restored. She said he entertained her whole office and was on his best behavior there! He even went outside and played soccer with a coworker, lucky kid! She said he had a blast and sent CJ this picture….

Big brother Carter has been doing such a good job helping mommy out! He helps me bathe her, and sings to her when she cries. He has his moments where you can tell he is showing off for attention, but its just going to take some time for him to get used to sharing the spotlight I guess! Really though, he is super gentle and helpful with his little sis, which couldn’t make me more proud!

As far as Callie goes, she has been just wonderful! She’s usually a content baby, but has her fussy moments, like all babies do. Last night she cried for over an hour, and I have to admit, it made me a little nervous! Carter had colic pretty bad, so I automatically started thinking back to those days! I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if little miss will follow in her brother’s foot steps, fingers crossed it was a one night thing ; )

Its been a few days since I’ve blogged… and we didn’t do much over the weekend. Saturday Carter, Callie, and I spent the day at home while Daddy helped load some stuff out of his Nana’s house. It nice having time with both kids, but definitely tiring LOL. Sunday, we ran too late to make it to Luke’s bday party, but later in the afternoon we visited my family for a bit. Carter had fun riding bikes with his uncles and aunt and Callie hung out with Paps :)

As far as today goes, we are just hanging out at home! I’m going to try and get some cute outdoor pictures later, since its so pretty out!
