A play-date with Adriana

 

Let me just start off by saying that it’s been almost 5 months since Carter has seen Adriana! The last time he saw her was at the Charles County Fair in September!

Ashley texted CJ Friday and asked if we wanted to come over Saturday to let the kids play. Well, we decided to go after Carter’s nap so that he would be in a good mood to play :) We arrived around 2ish and stayed until about 5pm! It took Carter a good 20 minutes to warm up, but once he did, they played so cute together! Adriana is the sweetest little girl. She is very outgoing and happy! No shyness in that girl, not one bit! I hope we can have more play-dates & not so far apart! Once the weather starts warming up, I would love to get together with all the mommies and take all the kids to the park :)

20 Months old!

Carter James, 

I cannot believe that in only 4 short months, you will be 2 years old! You have grown to be such an independent, spunky, little boy. Your daddy & I are so proud of you and even more proud to be your parents. We love you SO much baby!! Happy 20 month birthday :)

 Here is Carter January 22nd 2009, 8 months old…

&& Here he is today, January 24th 2010, 20 months old…

When you compare pictures side by side, you can really see how much changing & growing has taken place in 1 short year-appearance wise!!

Development wise, Carter has changed immensely over the past month!!! He has started putting more words together & can say things like; “I won wats barmey (I wanna watch barney)”, “I won go outtide (I wanna go outside)” “can i habit (Can I have it?)” and “I won chocla-milk” (I want chocolate milk)!!  His ‘single’ words have soared to the point where I’ve lost count. He can or will try to say whatever I ask him to say, so its ALOT of words.

His memory has gotten much more sharp this month as well. He remembers character’s names in Barney, Dora, & his favorite books.

He can obey simple commands & answer questions with a yes or no. He has also tried to explain (even though it’s jibberish!) how he got a boo-boo or when something happened that made him sad or mad!

He is still in 18-24 month clothes size 5 & 1/2 to 6 shoe.  He still only weights about 23.5 lbs and last I checked, was almost 32 inches tall.

This month he also discovered jumping on the bed! He LOVES to “jump high” as he calls and does it with such fearlessness :) He is such a daredevil these days! Although he is still very shy when first meeting new people or seeing friends we haven’t seen in a while. It usually takes him some time to warm up first and then he’s all good :)

So, those are some of Carter’s big changes this month!! As you can see, I’m a little late posting this. However, with him being sick the last few days, its been hard to find time to blog. He’s finally feeling better now though :) I can’t wait to see what next month will bring!!

 

Sick day!

Yesterday morning I sent Carter to daycare because his fever was gone, or so I thought! When he got home around 3:45pm he looked all glassy-eyed  & felt warm. So, I took him downstairs to take his temperature. Well, I was shocked to see it read 104 degrees!!!! If your babies temperature has ever gotten that high, you know how scary it is!!! I ran into the kitchen and grabbed the Motrin. After I gave him some, I called the doctor. When I told them what was going on, they told me to bring him in right away, just to be safe!! By this time it was 4:00 and they close at 5pm & ON TOP OF that, we live 30 minutes away! Needless to say, we had to hurry!

Well, we got there at 4:45pm and they took us back right away. They did blood work, checked his ears, nose & throat, & did a strep test. Everything came back normal so what do you think the doctor said it was??! A virus…AS ALWAYS LOL! Sorry, but I get sick and tired of everything being blamed on a virus! I guess I have to listen to the ‘professionals’ though & shut up!

Anyway, they said they would call if the 48 hour strep test came back positive, but to just keep him home and keep giving him Tylenol/Motrin & lots of fluids! So today that’s what we’re doing…just resting and relaxing & trying to get better :)

A letter for Carter!

Yesterday Carter received this nice letter....

Its from the Kidney Foundation thanking him for participating in the 2009 walk :) I never thought about it, but that was Carter's very first time volunteering!! The letter also states that they hope to see us this year for the 2010 Kidney walk, well...you can bet we'll be there! We really had a good time last year and knowing that we're contributing to a good cause, makes it even more special! Go Team Ryder, Goooo ; )

Not feeling so hot!

Actually, that’s exactly how Carter felt when he got home from daycare today…hot! He had a glassy look in his eye & felt warm to touch. I took his temperature and it read 101.5. No runny nose, no cough, no nothing….just a fever! I waited until right before bed to give him Tylenol because I wanted to see if it was gonna go up. Well, it went up to 101.8, but then back down to 100.7 after his bath. I put him to bed at 7:15 because he just seemed like that’s all he wanted to do is go to bed! I can tell he doesn’t feel good, poor baby!

I just checked his temperature again about 30 minutes ago and now its back down to 98.4, but that’s more than likely due to the Mortin. I set my alarm for midnight so that I can check his temperature again and give him Tylenol if needed! I hope this is just a little cold and he’s better tomorrow. That’s kids for ya I guess, they catch everything!!!

Gotta love Monday’s off work

&& How did we spend ours?? Well, Carter spent some time over at Me-ma’s while mommy helped her friend Tara try on wedding dresses :) It was a good day because she ended up buying the dress!! YAY! After that, we headed home and had some cuddling time before its back to daycare and work!! At least its a short week =)

Carter’s First Potty

Sunday evening after Carter went to bed, CJ & I ventured out to Target to get Carter his first potty :) We left the baby monitor upstairs with Granny while we were gone, but as always he did not make a peep while we were out. We got him a Fisher Price “Royal Stepstool Potty” that plays music when he pees/poops :) Its precious and I can’t wait to start working with him on it!

I plan to take it slow & let him go at his own pace!! I heard boys can be a little more difficult when it comes to potty training, but we’ll see. Wish us luck everyone!! This should be fun ; )

Pizza face!

Sunday afternoon we ordered one of Carter’s favorite foods…PIZZA :) I swear he loves it so much, he could eat it everyday if we let him! As soon as he hears the word ‘pizza’ he starts saying “I wan pissa” just like that! Now, how can I say no to that?!

Sunday morning breakfast

This morning after sleeping in until almost 8:30 :) we decided to go to Shamansky’s for breakfast! They’re food is always so delicious & its a buffet so you have lots of choices! It’s a rainy, nasty, cold day out, so after breakfast we just went back home & have been relaxing ever since. Carter took a nap around 2:30 & slept for about an hour. Now we are eating pizza for dinner & watching cartoons! Tomorrow is Martin Luther King’s birthday so we’re all off work & daycare! hooorayyy :)

Lunch with Friends

Saturday I met up with some friends for lunch at Red Robbin. I thought we were meeting at 1pm so I went to my moms to kill time. Well, Brandy calls around 12:20 and asks if Carter & I are still coming!

Well, I didn’t want to be even more late than I already was, so I left Carter with my mom and rushed out the door! I didn’t take him with me because I would have had to gather all of his things and mine and it was just easier & faster to go with out him. Well, lunch was good & afterwards, Mandi, Brandy, & I went to the mall for a little while. I’m glad I decided to go to the mall because I actually got a few things for myself & on sale at that!

Around 3:30 we left the mall & I headed back to my moms to get Carter. We got home around 5 and had dinner, played, bath, & bed!

Carter ended up going to bed around 8:15pm & slept until 8:22am this morning…..ahhh it was soo nice :) I hope he sleeps like that again tonight!
