Blogger V-Day Party!

So Last night Live Writer kept kicking me off right in the middle of this post! After the 3rd try, I got frustrated and gave up. At least its working now, shesh!

Anyway, we finally had our v-day party after it being postponed due to all the snow!! It was a lot of fun catching up with the mommies, playing with the kids, and eating good food! Thanks Jen for having us :) Now onto the good stuff…the pictures!!!

A funny story…

The other day we were sitting at home relaxing, Carter was watching Barney & I was watching the E News channel. Well, as I frequently looked over at him to make sure he wasn’t jumping on the couch or trying to slip away & get into trouble lol, I notice his head bobbling up and down! So, I slowly walk over and this is what I find:

He passed out watching Barney!! Right after I walked over and realized he was passed out, he tried to roll over and fell right off the couch! Luckily, we have soft carpet and he didn’t fall very hard. Our couch isn’t that high! But, even with the fall, he stayed asleep! I just picked him up and laid him back on the couch :) I put some pillows on the ground after that, just incase he did that again, but he slept for a whole hour like that. I actually woke him up, which I hate to do, but it was 5:30pm and I didn’t want him to sleep too long and ruin his night-time routine. He wasn’t very happy with me at first, but he got over it…see…

      

Also this week we’ve been really practicing everyone’s names so that when we go to the V-day party this Saturday Carter can say them good and clear! He definitely has Ryder, Bailey, & Owen down pact. Mikayla is a little harder for him, ha! It sounds more like complete jibberish, but we’ll get there eventually!!! We are so excited to see everyone again, I know its gonna be a great time!

Oh..PS…Carter is getting a haircut this Saturday! That’s right, you heard me! Actually we’re both getting it done, mommy is getting it colored (Finally!) & Carter is getting his 2nd of all time haircut!!! I’m really nervous about cutting it, but I think its time. It’s just too long now!! Plus, a good friend told me, “its just hair, it will grow back!!” Which is so true :) I just hope it all goes well & no tears..Wish us luck!!!!!

Carter spent the night over Mema’s on Sunday night so that CJ & I could spend some time together. Plus, my mom had been begging me for the last few weeks to let him spend the night, so I finally caved ; )

Saturday morning we got up, got ready, and headed out the door to go visit Nana, Uncle John, Gary, & the girls (Shannon & Ashley). Carter slept in until almost 8am, which was great and was a really good boy the whole ride and time we were visiting! He loved the elevator and just wanted to keep going up and down or “Ding-Dong” as he called it! All in all, it was a good visit and much needed! Hopefully we can visit more often :)

Sick day

Unfortunately  

He is. He’s had diarrhea pretty much all day :( He’s also been very congested (runny nose, green boogies, etc) with a low-grade fever. I took him to the Dr. this morning to be checked out because I could hear him coughing all night long. Then when he woke up this morning he had messed a diaper in his sleep, which he has never done and on top of that it was diarrhea.

So, after being seen by the doctor they determined he just had a cold and all the coughing is from “post nasal drip”. They gave us a prescription for an antihistamine (stronger than Benadryl) that will dry him up so the coughing will subside. No antibiotic though because the Dr. said that could make his tummy even more upset. I’m keeping him home from daycare again tomorrow just to be safe & the Dr. said that if he isn’t better by Saturday to give them a call! Hopefully this is just a little bug and it will be out of his system tomorrow. Even with being sick though, this little guy manages to keep a smile on his face :) Thank God tomorrow is Friday & its another long weekend!!

Its taken me a couple days, but here are some pictures from the “Aftermath” of the 2010 Blizzards….

 

      

So, that’s what it looked like around our way yesterday!! Pretty, but I think we are all over all this snow & cold weather! Spring…are you really 5 more weeks away?! All in all I think we got over 30 inches of snow, which is way too much if you as me! I’m really hoping we don’t get anymore snow storms this winter!

I’ve said this many times…I hate posting without pictures. Sometimes life is hectic though & its almost impossible to remember to grab your camera and snap away! Especially this weekend when we had another blizzard, a BIG one, and lost power!!

Anyhoo, power is back & life is good :) Although, I hope we don’t lose power again due to the storm we are getting hit with as I speak! Oh well, if it happens it happens, we won’t dwell on what ‘could’ happen. In the meantime, here are some pictures from our ordinary Tuesday night:

We're still here...

Yes, we're still here everyone! I know it's been a few days & no-one's heard a peep out of us since the blizzard started! Well, it's been a rough weekend for us. We lost power Friday night (well around 1am Saturday morning). It came back around 4 and we were fine until about 1:30pm Saturday afternoon. Then, it cut out again and we didn't get power back until 4pm Sunday afternoon!!! Can you say HUGE pain in the butt?! urghhh! We had generators hooked up Saturday night, but ours ran out of gas around midnight so we were freezing! CJ, Carter, and I all piled up in our bed and snuggled to keep warm. Around 6:15am Sunday morning we got up, packed up Carter's things & CJ dropped us off at my mom's while he pushed snow. We Finally came home last night around 7pm and we all just crashed! Needless to say, its been a long weekend! I am so thankful our power is back, Thank you to all the hard worker's out there that made it possible!!

I was going to blog about the snow on Saturday afternoon, but then Carter decided to give me a good scare! And when I say good scare, I mean he scared the crap outta me!! Pardon my french, lol! Two seconds was all it took for him to go into the pantry and reach up on the shelf where the Decon Mouse/Rat poison was and attempt to eat it!!!!!!!!!You heard right, poison!!!! When I saw that he had that in his hand and almost in his mouth, I ran over and smacked it all out of his hands...stuck my fingers down his throat to get any that he might have swallowed out..then rinsed his mouth out and washed his hands!! He was crying because I scared him by doing all that, but I was terrified! The first thing that popped in my head when I saw him attempting to eat that stuff was death!!!!

I called Poison Control and they told me that any type of poison mice/rat/etc is one of the TOP things kids get into & parents call about! He said that unless Carter ate several hand fulls of it, there is nothing to worry about! I was shocked to hear that! He told me I did everything right by washing him up and rinsing his mouth, but he made clear to NEVER make the child throw up in an attempt to get the bad stuff out! He also told me to keep calm because I was so frantic when I called them! But wouldn't you be?! Anyway, the gentleman I spoke with was very nice and really made me feel alot better about the whole thing! He reassured me that Carter would be just fine and the only thing to look for would be more bruising than usual or if he got a cut, more bleeding than normal because the poison is a blood thinner! If that does happen, he told me to call the doctor. However, like I said before, that would only happen if he swallowed large amounts! He said 1 or 2 pellets will just pass right through his system! Children & adults would have to consume very large amounts to harm or even kill us!

So, long frightening story, I know. That's been my weekend! That's why I haven't blogged in a few days!! Also, I forgot to bring my camera to my mom's yesterday-dumb me! Or should I say, worn-out, stressed out me?! Ha! I will have some pictures to post later on tonight after little man goes to bed! Our house looks crazy in the snow, its past my thigh! We're supposed to be getting sleet tomorrow & more snow Wednesday! All those times I wished we would get more snow in MD, well, I'm eating my words now people! This stinks!

Tonight we just relaxed…which is fine by me! Carter didn’t eat such a great dinner. He just wasn’t in the mood I guess. He had some chicken and peas, but very little. He saw daddy eating milky ways and decided that was better to eat, ha! Then he had an ice cream cone for dessert & chocolate milk. I try to feed him healthy stuff as much as possible, but I guess there’s always going to be those nights where your child just doesn’t want what you fix them. Especially Carter who is moody & picky at times!

Tomorrow is Friday and another big snowstorm is coming! At first I heard it wasn’t supposed to start snowing until after 12pm. Now, I’m hearing it’s going to start in the morning, maybe even before 10am!!! I plan on going to work, but if it starts snowing really bad, I’m leaving! Granny said she might just stay home so if she does, then Carter will get to sleep in and have a nice long weekend :) Good night….more pictures from the weekend to come!

This is by far the most snow we've had in MD in years! The last 'big' snow was the blizzard of 1996! They are calling for this snow to be another big one & the worst part is we already have probably 4-6 inches on the ground!! So....if the weather forecast runs true, we will have a TON of snow on the ground at the end of this weekend!! Not really looking forward to it this time. Especially since they're saying Saturday will be very windy. The last time it was windy + snow = no power!!!!!!!! I am praying that doesn't happen, urgh!

This week has been a pretty quiet one. Not much really going on, just trying to prepare for another snowed in weekend coming up! Carter has been so sweet this week in the mornings. He is still so tired when I go in to wake him up for daycare, that I get him dressed while he's still asleep!!! Then I carry him up and he sleeps in my lap until its time to go :) Also this week Carter's been saying something new! He learned how to "Scare me!" when someone surprises him!!! I guess that's his way of saying "You scared me!!" haha! Its cute and he is saying it ALOT this week for some reason. He also learned how to say "Elbow, Knee, & Neck" and can point to each one.

I haven't really snapped any pictures this week... I do have a couple video's of him playing so I might put some up later tonight when I get home from work. Its supposed to start snowing tomorrow afternoon so I guess we are looking at another weekend stuck indoors!! Oh well, we will make fun out of it :) The main thing that disappoints me is that our little Vday get together is most likely not gonna happen, but at least we already have a 'make up' date for it. I just hope it doesn't snow that weekend too! I heard the Farmer's Almanac said we are supposed to get snow every weekend in February this year!! lets hope not!
