Our first week home!

Our first week home was great! I’m a little late posting about it, but if I had trouble finding time to blog before Callie came, now its even harder with her here! Today is the first day that I’ve been home with out any visitors stopping by! All last week we had doctor’s appointments everyday, then visitors over the weekend, and yesterday too! I love having friends and family over, but it doesn't leave much time to blog once they are gone and Crazy Carter comes home from daycare :)

Anyway, like I said, last week we had doctor’s appointments almost everyday. Tuesday was our first day home from the hospital because they didn’t release us until almost 10pm Monday night (That’s a whole other story in itself! ugh!) But, Tuesday Callie had her first check up with the pediatrician. They wanted to check her jaundice levels and even though she looked better, the doctor made us come back on Thursday just to be sure. When they weighed her on Tuesday she was 6lbs, so she came up from 5lbs 13oz on Monday when they weighed her. Then on Thursday when they checked her out, she was 6lbs 3oz and her jaundice looked much better!

Wednesday I had my appointment with Dr. Ali, but before we left that morning I got a horrible head ache out of no where! It scared the crap out of me because it reminded me of the same pain I felt during surgery. CJ ended up calling 911 because he was also scared and didn’t want to chance anything after what had just happened. Everything looked okay with me when they checked me out, except my blood sugar level was 47!!!!!!!! When they saw that, they immediately started feeding me sweets and gave me orange juice to bring it back up. For anyone who doesn't know, 47 is dangerously low, so they had to get it up asap! The EMT also said that could be the cause of my headache… and once I started eating, it did feel a little better. unfortunately it didn’t go away until after 5pm that night, but I haven’t gotten another headache since and we’ve been checking my sugar now and it’s also been better.

I feel like I’ve typed an essay, but I just wanted to explain a little on what’s been going on over here! Hopefully now that we are settling in and the drama is over (fingers crossed) I can blog more regularly :)

My messy swaddling job! I try my best, but I can’t compare to the hospital nurses.

Carter and Daddy went to Target one day last week to get a couple things we needed and to give Callie and Mommy a chance to get a nap in. Carter picked out a matching ‘mini’ pillow pet for his sis…such a thoughtful big brother!!

I think that’s it for our first week (not including the weekend) more blogging and pictures to come!

I have never seen a pacifier that big before! She is just adorable, simply adorable. I am glad she is better from her jaundice, just get her out in some sunshine and near windows at home. You seem to be doing great being a mommy of 2 so far!
