Callie’s Birth Story (Recap)

Well, as you all know, Callie’s birth didn’t go as smoothly as we had hoped. It was very scary and hectic that morning, but Thank God it all turned out to be okay-for Callie and myself! Thank you everyone for all the prayers and Thank you Brandy for blogging for me and keeping everyone updated! And for also talking CJ through a very scary morning!

Where do I begin… Our morning started off great. We arrived at the hospital right on time and got started right away preparing for surgery. It wasn’t until after I received the spinal block and wheeled in for surgery that things got crazy. From what I remember, 1-2 minutes after they laid me down flat on my back, I felt loads of pressure in my head. Next thing I know, my head started pounding….and I mean BAD! It was the worst pain I have ever felt in my life!! I felt like I couldn’t even breathe enough to cry and all I could do was hold my head. They kept telling me to calm down, but it hurt so bad that I just kept saying to them “Please do something, it hurts, it hurts!” The last thing I remember is gripping CJ’s hand super tight, he cracked a joke to try and break the tension and everyone in the room laughed, but me.

After that is when the seizure happened (which I have no memory of) and next thing I know I’m waking up to a room with other patients and a doctor trying to explain to me what happened. Long story short, they immediately wheeled me in for a CT Scan once Callie was out safe and sound, and found nothing out of the ordinary. According to the doctors, this is one of those mysteries that can’t be explained, but they feel confident wont happen again. Sadly, their explanation didn't help us feel much better about the whole thing. And, my hospital stay wasn’t all that great either. But, the important thing is that Callie is healthy and I am doing better, so we have to be thankful!

Yesterday was another rough day for me because I got a massive head ache out of no where as soon as I woke up. We ended up calling 911 because the pain was so intense, it reminded me of the pain I felt in the hospital. As it turns out, my blood sugar level was at a 47 when they checked, which is dangerously low. We got it back up, but my head ache stayed put until after 5pm last night. We ran out to doctor Ali’s office to get my pain medicine refilled (which is a whole other story, grr!)  and stopped in to see the neurologist while we were there. He felt as though my headaches could be caused by the blood sugar dropping, which could possibly be the cause of the seizure, but again told me to follow up with my doctor to be sure!

As for Callie, her Jaundice has gotten much better since Tuesday when she was last seen. Her weight has gone up from 6lbs to 6lbs 3 oz. And everything else looks great with her!

Now, let me get onto the pictures!
